Martin J Kent
Mirror Tile Bistro
About the artwork:
The painting depicts the artist taking a selfie in Hamilton, Newcastle. The occasion was a lively evening with music and poetry.
The reflections in the mirror tiles captured the busy street and the cultural life of the bistro. The painting is a collage of many views of the interior of the bistro and the street scene outside.
The broken images, the brilliant flashes of colour and the extended sense of space pose the questions…
Who are we?
How do we live in this space?
