Lisa Ellen Hughes
Title:
Kintsugi Vs Cash Cow - Ships off Newcastle
About the artwork:
In my paintings I work in the Anthropocene, and I use mark making from artists desks and art boards. I paint the evidence and impact from natural resources as a conceptualized contemporary abstract. I have used Kintsugi, visualizing the repairing of the land as a double narrative. Gold is traded in abundance overseas and in this instance used to repair the damage. Ships adorn our shores off Newcastle waiting to take away our precious resources overseas as a reminder of our built environment.
