About the artwork:
This artwork was inspired by Cowrie Hole, a magical network of rockpools located by the Newcastle Baths. When painting ‘Rockpools’ my aim was to convey the abundance of life hidden amongst the rocks and seaweed, the sensation of each pool – it’s depth, temperature, the way your feet feel when you jump in it, and the warmth and complexity of the sandy shore. The painting was completed on recycled canvas, like many of my paintings, as I value minimising the footprint I make with my art.
