Artist Name:
Catherine Hickson
Kayikayilpa - place of the grass tree
About the artwork:

Over years of walking and riding over my land in the Upper Hunter and nearby areas I have discovered groves of Kyikayil/Grass trees thriving in abundance hidden from the human interventions of farming, land clearing, mining and urban development. I treasure their survival. This work references fragments of my visual memory as I move through the grass trees honouring the stories they hold from past generations of the Wonnarua people.
