About the artwork:
Portraiture as a context for reimagining how conceptions of identity are formed and, in my experience, shaped by culture, religious beliefs and socio-economic marginalisation has informed my art practice and thinking for over 20 years. I am particularly interested in how these meta-narratives change and adapt over time and place, creating a platform to express the self as both subject and muse through the genre of portraiture. About the artist:
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, I migrated to Newcastle, Australia in 1991 where I maintain an active studio art and social practice.
