Alanya van de Wiel
About the artwork:
I am a feminist painter moved by the beauty and power of shapes.
I explore the concept of “freedom” by abstracting the shapes of birds in flight.
I hope to convey the traditionally feminine characteristics of vulnerability, surrender and spirituality as strengths to challenge the patriarchal mindset of these traits being weak and irrelevant. Like countless others who identify as women I am sharing my voice in an historically male dominated and judged industry in the hope of making a difference.
