I begin each work drawing a tessellated pattern with compass and ruler on card. During the drawing process I consider which aspects of the pattern to colour, and a method for doing so. In this instance I have used oil paint and coloured cardboard. Each segment is cut out and then coloured and filled with resin. The drawing process resonates with me as an example of the creative process. The construction lines (erased by the end of the process to reveal the pattern) represent the hidden forces that build and maintain our reality. Chains represents the necessary constraints to our existence.
